A faded television actor and his stunt double strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood's Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles.

The movie starts kind of slow pace, building the characters and their stories set in Hollywood in the late 60’s, during the Vietnam war and the Hippie movement. Tarantino takes this opportunity to have a nostalgia moment and to tribute this old-school Hollywood of Westerns, Bruce Lee and Hero-Villain TV shows (Bounty Law remind me of the ‘Riffle Man’) he grow up watching when he was just a child, but that kept inspiring him all of his life. As in most of Tarantino’s movies, the dialogues, the soundtrack and ambience are just great and we easily forgot that we are watching a 50-years old recreation of what was supposed to be life of the actors and famous people in Hollywood at the time. The casting, as always, is just great, and both Leo and Brad do amazing performances on their one styles. There are quite a few of hilarious scenes which both of them. Margot Robbie is also very convincing as Sharon Tate and the rest of the cast also have great performances (e.g Dakota Fanning as Squeaky is almost unrecognizable if was not for the voice). In the end, as expected, all stories somewhat crosses and we have a great explicit violent Tarantino climax ending that will amuse all of his fans. [spoiler alert] As a plus, we have twist on the real events of the Sharon Tate murder by the Manson’s community. Running the risk of being somewhat indulgent with one of my favorite directors, I do think this is a great movie despite it may disappoint some of his fans more used or hoping to have a fast-paced version of his other popular themes. In my opinion, this is the best Tarantino movie since the Inglorious Basterds, and much better than the Hateful Eight (the least achieved or the one I relate less).

Great movie but unfortunately did not live up to its potential. I thought this would be a Quentin Tarantino movie about Charles Manson’s story (which I am really fascinated by) and instead it was a plain toast movie that any good director could have made about a random actor living next to the family that got killed by the Manson family IRL. I wish someone would have told me that before so I didn’t have to sit there and get more and more disappointed as I realized it’s not gonna be what I’ve waited a year to see. If it wasn’t Tarantino’s name on it I would have loved this movie, but now I really expected tense dialogues and crazy violence...and it was just so ordinary.
