A fairy tale so unbeliavable and naif as aestetichal (in all senses, photography, music, wardrobe,...) beautiful and compelling. At the end of the movie we don’t care anymore of what are we really watching and why, it’s a love story more convincing than many from non-fantasy movies. Guillermo del Toro sure breathes poetry.

Amélie, is that you?
It's a visually beautiful movie but, for me, just too much of a cliché.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon meets The Americans, and finally gets the girl! A poetic fable by Guillermo del Toro, set in the late 50s, where humans are the monsters and the invisible ones (the help, the handicapped, the gay friend and the spy) save the day. With fantastic set design by production designer Paul D. Austerberry and a wonderful original score by Alexandre Desplat. Must see! NOTE: the look and story bear a lot of resemblance to the dutch 2015 short film The Space Between Us. Ummmm...
